#1163 add existing wife/husband SOUR etc

No

per Help forum suggestion:, when adding an existing Indi as wife/husband, the edit window does not include
add_simple_tag("0 SOUR", "MARR");
add_simple_tag("0 NOTE", "MARR");
add_simple_tag("0 SHARED_NOTE", "MARR");
add_simple_tag("0 ASSO", "MARR");
add_simple_tag("0 RESN", "MARR");
(this was Stephen's attempt to add the code to edit_interface.php for me. While this code produces the tag fields, they don't work as expected.
No + for open, they're open by default. No check for MARR box, does not actually record the added SOUR etc. This addition
would make the edit interface more consistent with other edit windows.

    should be fixed in svn 6638

    How exactly do I update to include this? I've only done svn once before and it was pretty horrific experience, as I didn't know how.

    <http://phpgedview.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/phpgedview/trunk/phpGedView/edit_interface.php?view=log&pathrev=6638> and I find Revision 6638. Click Download and all it does is open in a browser window.

    copy and replace with your edit_interface.php file (I hope you are in 4.2.3)

    or search line 631
    and after:
    echo "</table>\n";
    paste:
    print_add_layer("ASSO");
    // allow to add godfather and godmother for CHR fact or best man and bridesmaid for MARR fact in one window
    print_add_layer("ASSO2");
    print_add_layer("SOUR");
    print_add_layer("NOTE");
    print_add_layer("SHARED_NOTE");
    print_add_layer("OBJE");
    print_add_layer("RESN");

    and save.

    Got the file. Copy & pasted into new PHP file (BBEdit) and replaced online. Didn't notice any changes.

    The copy/paste section worked. What I'm noticing in new file is the Marriage Yes is not checked by default which was mentioned in my request. Otherwise, the SOURS don't apply correctly.

    Just tested. The SOUR did not save with the event, even with the Marriage check box set.

    Lukasz, Rhonda is correct, same result as my feeble programming attempt. SOUR is not added to the event.

    Rhonda, IMHO - MARR Y should not be checked as this is an assumption, not a fact until positively confirmed by your actions.

    I know and trying to solve this

    Stephen, I'd disagree that Marriage YES should be unchecked. I know there's lots of talk about marital status but I'd think the option is use is far more are YES than NO (married). When using the edit, most likely you'd be far more aware of unchecking it for persons concerned than checking. Thanks for confirming that at least the editing isn't working. Thought I forgot something :) Will await your further attempts Lukasz/wooc.

    Just tested. Existing female. Link to existing male. Check "married". Added Source. Record displays showing female with spouse and source. I'll take it as working. Thank you. And thanks to Stephen knew how to download the file :)

    Went to a record on file to create new SOUR for their marriage. Received tons of errors relating to the file edit_interface.php. Logged out. Replace file with orginal. Tried again and restored to normal. So, there's something broken.

    Not sure if my post succeeded so pardon if duplicated:

    Where do I find the "functions_print.php" in PGV to replace with the 6644 version I downloaded?

  • Łukasz Wileński

    Mac, you should use functions_print.php version 6644.
    It is in /inculdes/functions/ directory.

    Downloaded and installed the two files in their corresponding locations. Created new male. Added existing female as wife. Went to child's record and attached. All went okay. So, believe it's working unless I discover otherwise down the road. Thanks
