#1110 Edit pedigree in quick-update
When you add a person to a family using the link to an existing person, the pedigree works fine. When Adding a person through the add child script, that works too. But, when you add a person using the quickupdate family with parents tab, there is no way to select the pedigree. This is also a problem as parents are added. The only way to fix this is to remove the person from the family and then use the link to family script to add them back. That is such a pain.
You are correct.
However, Quick Update is exactly that. Its notmeant to be used for the more detailed entries such as Pedigree. It is for users who just want to quickly add details. One of the reasons I don't use it is is sort of thing. It also doesn't allow for the inclusion of SOUR records for people and events, which I regard as essential for good genealogy.
On the complications of fixing this, there are two points:
1 - you can use Raw GEDCOM editing, which is easier than remove and re-link.
2 - There is a bug report or Feature Request already to have an GUI to edit PEDI records. It is definitely needed.
As kiwi says, the quick update was only ever designed for the most common edits. Add too much into it, and it no longer becomes quick/simple...
I'm therefore moving this from bug-reports to feature requests.
