    KSC - 2005-05-17

I'm trying to install the danish language, but I do not have these files -

    languages/configure_help.da.php
    languages/facts.da.php
    languages/help_text.da.php
    languages/lang.da.php

Where do I find them ?

But in the danish language we have 3 letters more than in the english language. These 3 letter does not work on my website. Is there some other way that I can get them to work, if I can't get the danish language ??

The Danish language was removed from PhpGedView, at the insistence of the original Danish translator who, despite PGV being an Open Source project, considered his translations to be his personal property.

      Please e-mail John Finlay.

      > We need to continue this off-line.

      Why is that?

Anyway, mail me if you'd like more help with the Danish translation; I'll gladly help.

Based on previous experience I can tell the reason why the Mormon Church and its representatives John Finlay and Gerry Kroll want to continue this offline: Its probably because the methods involved here places the Mormon Church in a bad light.

      Spookiepower asked:
      > If I want to translate from english to danish,
      > what files do I have to add/changes in ?

The simple answer is, that PGV includes a language tool that enables anybody to make his own personal translation. In this language tool you can see what files you need to add/change. Its easy!

It simply isnt correct when Gerry Kroll states:

      > The Danish language was removed from
      > PhpGedView, at the insistence of the original
      > Danish translator who, despite PGV being
      > an Open Source project, considered his
      > translations to be his personal property.

      A correct statement would be:

      > When you contribute to PGV you dont
      > contribute to a real Open Source project,
      > but contribute to a proprietary project of
      > John Finlay and the Mormon Church, where
      > John Finlay claims to own the copyright to
      > your work. And since John Finlay wouldnt
      > respect the original translators Intellectual
      > Property Right, the Danish translation had
      > to be removed from the project, when
      > John Finlay changed the policy from being
      > true Open Source to being that of a proprietary
      > project.

      Bewst regards,

And since this only is of interest to Danes, the following will be in the Danish Language:

      Arne

        Arne:
        I wish to correct a mis-conception:

I am NOT associated with the LDS church, and never will be.  I do not wish to discuss my religious affiliation, but please be assured that it's NOT "Mormon".

        Regards,
        Gerry Kroll.

      Arne,

I already told you that this project has nothing to do with the Mormon Church.  It is not sponsored by the Church or in any way affiliated with the Church.

PGV is released under the GPL and anything released with PGV is also under the GPL.  For anyone interested in the licensing and any copyright issues related to it, you can find the GPL license included with the project files.  It is also available online here http://www.opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php

      Gerry,

I't wasn't my purpose to label you as a member of the LDS church. Your religious affiliation is no concern of mine. But it certainly is a concern of mine when you are acting for John Finlay and issues false information about me:

      > The Danish language was removed from
      > PhpGedView, at the insistence of the original
      > Danish translator who, despite PGV being an
      > Open Source project, considered his translations > to be his personal property.
      >
      > Please e-mail John Finlay.

You know your information is false. Originally the PGV project respected/accepted the translators Intellectual Property Rights according to which the translators names should be mentioned in the source files.

This worked very well until John Finlay decided that he for reasons of absolute power and control no longer would respect/accept the translators Intellectual Property Rights. That is, John Finlay - despite the PGV being labeled as an Open Source project - decided to make the translators works his personal property.

It's interesting that you didn't care to correct your false information!

      Best regards,
      Arne

      John Finlay,

      You claims:
      > I already told you that this project has nothing to
      > do with the Mormon Church. It is not sponsored
      > by the Church or in any way affiliated with the
      > Church.

Still your work on the project is done in the working hours at BYU - at the end of the day it boils down to the PGV effectively being owned by the LDS church.

      Best regards,
      Arne
