Essentially, I'd like to have a ruling fopm TPTB on whether the current code is to stay and, thus, the naming inconsistency is to persist or whether it should be fixed and in what timeframe.
For what is worth, the current Spanish strings are incorrect according to the code currently in svn and needs fixing if the code stays. I just noticed I did the sensible translation without noticing the
I will be sending shortly some changes to Spanish (there is a medium severity problem related to the registration approval confirmation email subject and text), but I'd like to know how to deal with this other problem.

The inconsistency between the four $pgv_lang variable names ($pgv_lang["$sosa_paternal_male_ etc) and their text values has been corrected.
The logic for determining which of the four variables should be chosen has also been simplified greatly.
The change is in SVN 2050 for version 4.1.3.
