Hi, I am using 4.2.4 stable version from a clean install on my own WHS 2003 home server. I seem to have all functions working (except the one already reported on PDF reports), but I have a problem in getting the complete data in my reports. I have started with a GEDCOM file from another source some time ago, and since added a lot of new stuff using PGV.
It now seems that some data from the initial GEDCOM records irregularly shows in the report, whilst the added records in PGV look ok.
This is a piece of the descendancy report:

So I don't understand why not all data shows up in the report. Any advice anyone can give?

This report, like a few other places in PGV, sometime mishandles missing data such as this individual's death. It's almost certainly a bad idea, but I'm in the habit of entering "Date Unknown" as the place of death if no information is known about an individual's death. As long as I'm consistent I can delete this when piper wants to be paid.
There's probably a gedcom issue here with the birth, but I'm not sure what it is. I'm no gedcom expert. You might try deleting and re-entering the birth info, then, if the report works, comparing the gedcom fragments. Backup first!

Back up your data and database.
Export your gedcom.
Import the exported gedcom and repopulate the data fields. There are many subtle changes in structure from previous versions and while at a glance all may appear to be fine, they may not be. The import should resolve these kinds of issues. -Stephen

I ended up doing a little bit of both, by backing up first and creating an export gedcom. I took the lines out that seem to cause a problem (starting with _UID and RIN) as these seem to be exported from another gedcom program where i created my initial gedcom file.
I loaded the export file into Exel, filtered and deleted the lines, and imported the file again. A little tricky, but from what I can see now with some quick tests it did the trick.

1) Glad you got there,
2) Thats what a good text editor is designed to do. Excel was not, and you risked corruption of long strings if you didn't specify text formatting, and
3) That was entirely unnecessary to remove those tags. PGV can handle them easily and you could have used privacy to hide them if you didn't wish them displayed.

not sure how I got PGV to do this, as from testing why certain information was not showing in the reports, I started to remove other elements one by one from the record. I found that removing the _UID and RIN lines that I got from another Gedcom program solved my problem. After removing these, the record showed as expected in the report.
I might have stumbled on another item that is not directly causing a problem, but in the regular family or individual screen I get a message that PGV does not like a line called _UPD. It seems to carry the creation date and timestamp of the other program.
Is there a way to remove these lines with your solution?
Thanks
Ronald
