    Hi,
I've recently built a site in Phpgedview (www.hoekmeijer.nl), and come across a few things I can't figure out. Is there anyone who can help me resolve these issues:
    1. Some of the shared notes with Individuals are not shown completely. If I open the note with 'change' however, the full text is shown. Does anyone know how I can configure it so that the entire note is shown, not just the first part?
    2. I want to hide certain fields (like 'Death') from the individual view. Who knows where the show/hide settings for these fields are located?
    3. I created an overview page, which shows the entire family tree in order of I numbers, containing notes, an image immediate family. However, it is actually a static HTML file instead of a dynamic page which is updated when the database information is updated. I would like to create the same kind of overview in a dynamic page, so it will be up-to-date with the rest of the site. Is there anyone who can help me with this? (Maybe this is actually a PHP question, my PHP knowledge is quite limited).
Thank you so much for your help!
    Regards,

    Regards?
    1) Have you tried editing the note with a cut, paste and save? Perhaps there is a hidden character within the text that artificially truncates the body that might be removed by this method. Or, copy the text and create a new Shared Note within PGV to replace the one imported.
    2) Manage GEDCOMS > Edit PRIVACY > Global Fact Privacy: Select the fact DEAT, and select HIDE from whomever you wish (Show only to authorized, only to admin, hide even from admins). Save.
    3) Sorry, you'll find little support for customizing PGV (this really would be a new theme) here. You can check the theme site, http://www.pgvthemes.com for more details on creating your own theme.

You could create your own module and tab too, but that is not that easy either with PGV.

    Hi okbigkid,
    regards? force of habit :-).
Anyway, thanks for your answers. The first two I've already checked and that works, so thanks a lot! As for the last one, I was afraid it would turn out complicated, maybe I'll let it go for now.
    No regards,

    @ispacecrusader

I didn't see your custom page when i went to the URL you gave.

Some people have integrated PGV with Joomla, Wordpress, etc.  There are howtos on the wiki (http://wiki.phpgedview.net/en/index.php?title=How_to:Integrate_with_CMS, http://wiki.phpgedview.net/en/index.php?title=Integrate_with_Wordpress) although these may not be up to date with respect to the latest versions of the various software.

An easier step is to use the PGV welcome page.  My site ( http://paulyfamily.org )  makes an attempt at the overview you describe in the Welcome Page.    The Advanced HTML block has the facility to include variables from your database.  WARNING: the "Keyword Examples" template is broken in Version 4.2.3 (but fixed in the trunk).  Don't try this on a broken version - it will cause problems!  Instead see the list of keywords on the Wiki - http://wiki.phpgedview.net/en/index.php?title=Advanced_HTML_block.

You can include Chart block(s) to display pedigrees, etc.

You might also put a list of significant ancestors in the global favorites.  This is helpful for navigating and it is automatically truncated for privacy when viewed by visitors who have not logged in.

    Hi ggpauly,
thanks for helping me along. What I'm looking for is an overview like this: http://www.hoekmeijer.nl/aldfaer.php?ged=Hoekmeijer%28ansel%29.ged&PHPSESSID=eeffaf1c18e8456cebe3ddecb0cbd391
If the URL doesn't work, it's the page behind menu option 'Overview'. I'm not sure how I would get that using your suggestion with advanced HTML block, I don't want to have to enter each I-ID by hand. If I could create it so that it would show for instance name, birthplace, birth date, comment field, childeren and marriage automatically for everyone just by entering the keywords once, it would be great. Is that how it could work, do you think?
