I completed the upgrade, per the instructions, and now get the following error:

Notice: Undefined index: PGV_STORE_MESSAGES in ..\phpGedView\editconfig.php on line 316

My GedComs have disappeared, I was using ver 2.65 and did move authenticate.php file to the index directory, over-wrote all the old directories and files except the index directory, ran the editconfig.php script.

Anyone have any idea what caused this, I have backups and could try reloading the GedCom, but would rather fix this error first.

I haven't spent a lot of time on the php code in the program as of yet.

    TIA

After digging deeper into the upgrade conversion, I discovered a number of errors. They were all related to the pri message and login function.

Since this was a day of genealogy entry, I just exported all my user data from mySQl, deleted the GedView directory and reinstalled a fresh with Ver 3.0, then of course re-installed the user data I needed.

The curious thing that did catch my eye was the "move authenticate.php" in step 1 of the upgrade directions. I assumed that by doing so the upgrade actions would create a new one, however, it didn't in my case.

Hope this helps with other upgrade issues and sorry I didn't dig deeper into a better solution

The error message described above comes from trying to upgrade older 2.65.x releases of PGV.  To fix this error during the upgrade I have released a new RC2 version that will not have these upgrade problems.  This comes a little late for bearqst who found another solution.

The authenticate.php file is only needed if you are using index mode.  The upgrade instructions are meant to work with both modes of installation, but you can ignore authenticate.php if you are using MySQL.
