    Heike - 2010-03-05

Hi, after a longer period without changing anything about my site, finally I would like to upgrade into the newest version. My problem: until now I've worked with 3.3.8 final-index and what I've understood, the newer versions are with SQL / database.
I suppose this means I'll have to re-build from the scratch? Or are there tools so I don't have to enter everything - i.e. user-accounts, personalized layouts etc.  - anew? Where do I find a user manual? I'm just someone trying to put family data in the internet without knowing a lot about the technical part……
    Thanks,
    Heike

    Hi again,
I succeeded to find some information and uploaded test.php (http://www.heikeelashi.de/test.php) onto my site.
Would someone kindly have a look into it in order to advise which version would be supported by my provider?
    Thanks,
    Heike

With PHP4, you are limited to PGV4.1.7

If you can use PHP5 (most ISPs have this as an option), then you can use a later version.  Please investigate this option.

    Hi fisharebest,
thanks for having looked at the settings and the advise.
It has been anounced, that "within the next few weeks" (this information is there since December though)
the webserver will be moved and will offer PHP5 after that.
Should I wait for PHP5 or is it easy to upgrade from PGV4.1.7 to the newest version?
    Rgds, Heike
