I don't know whether this is a bug or an operator error.

SVN 6800, if I "create a new GEDCOM" I get an integrity error /duplicate key on the SUBM and again on the I1.  And the GEDCOM is not imported.  If I then click import, there are no complaints.

Wes, I think there's a or some bugs there. I just tried as well. Different to your attempt, mine complained that "test.ged" doesn't exist at the specified location - whcih of courde it doesn't, I'm trying to create a new file!

Add GEDCOM and Create New GEDCOM both seem to be operating in a simlar fashion, which is also wrong.

(Important note for users of PGV 4.2.3 - this does NOT affect the standard release product, only the svn of the next release 4.3.0)

And after I click import, if I export and examine the GEDCOM, there are no individuals in it, not even the default I1.

By the way, I prefer a font in which it is hard to distinguish 'eye' from 'one' so I set my prefix to 'P'.  I think PGV should see that and use P in the created GEDCOM.

Wes, I haven't tried - but surely it will if you set it to that? Don't forget that's a "per GEDCOM" setting, so you do have to set it to that when you create a new GEDCOM, rather than accept the defaults. You need to set any important settings like that before you click on "save" to create the new file, unless you modify the code so that "P" is the default on your site.

I think I've found/fixed this bug.  It was trying to insert the new data into an existing gedcom.

The "upload" logic tries to run without switching to that gedcom, so it needs to maintain two "current gedcom" pointers, and one bit of the code was using the wrong one.

Wes, you are right IMHO. I too have that problem. With my 2nd Gedcom import, and also to distinguish from my main (there is no overlap), I set to P before importing so it can be done. (Sadly I accepted defaults on my main Gedcom and it's too far along to change.)

    Mac
easy-peasy, never too late. Export gedcom and using BB-Edit or TextWrangler, do a grep find and replace on the INDI @I and replace with INDI @P.

Um - not quite.  This will change links, but not the object they link to.
