I use the LDS fields to trace (Indian origin)   genealogy  with analogous  religious temple names. How I modify/customize the temple lists to include only the temple names that I use  or that appear in gedcom file as LDS temples

If you make this change, you will only be able to enter temples that have already been used.

If this is what you want, why not just change the list in includes/templecodes.php to include the ones you want.

Have you considered using the NATI tag for your Native American relatives? We've used it for our Cherokee and Osage brothern and its quite appropriate. Then the pertinent SOUR information is easily attached for supporting data (Dawes, etc), including media. We also use the FACT tag for recording tribal membership and blood conditions. Just a thought.

Thanks. In my case it is Indian as from India.
I wanted to add tags to describe  ancestral temple of worship as it provides a good  means to trace the roots. That is why  substituting  for the temple of worship for the LDS temple was a good solution.

Thanks for suggesting the NATI tag may be interesting as I may be able to find an analog for it.
However one could debate whether  using  existing tags in a different analogous context is better suited than creating any new custom  tags .
Using existing tags  allows others in the family to create their own gedcoms using widely available software such as Legacy or FTM etc. and send me gedcoms to append or do online editing using phpgedview.

I  onlyhad  to modify  the extra.xx.php to reflect that the LDS fields correspond to family origin temple data and changing  templecodes.php then allows users to select temples for online editing.
Of course as indicated by fisherbest  it would require modifying the file  each time a new temple is added – but that is not a major issue.
