I recently upgraded from an older version of PGV (4.1?) to 4.2.3, but I didn't follow the instructions.  I now have no configuration, no GEDCOM, and no data.  HOWEVER, the SQL DB is full of data.  I've done of backup of the database. Is there a way to make PGV find the data in the database?  I am currently presented with the options for uploading or creating a GEDCOM file.  I've also run the setup as I'm able to login.  Is my data gone?  I can't find a backup of my GEDCOM file anywhere.

If your DB truly has data present, then you have probably not lost your GEDCOM.
The issue on the new install recognizing the older data is this:
In the new INDEX folder, you don't have the two gedcom specific files, and you don't have a config.php configured in the PGV root folder. You will need to create all three and have them match the original installation exactly.

I'm not sure, given the mistakes you've already made, that this trying to recover the DB from a new installation of 4.2+ is the way to go, particularly with the changes in tables.

If you have a complete DB backup (and perhaps even a 2nd copy), you could reinstall 4.1? and recover your GEDCOM by downloading it from the DB. For you, this may be easier.

How large is the GEDCOM? If not too large and nothing else seems to work, you could zip a copy of your DB dump and send it to me. I could add it to an older 4.1 installation (as the tables changed in 4.2) and then output the GEDCOM in a Download.
