If you have all of your dates as YYYYMMDD , what should you put in when you do not know the year?
underlines _____MMDD
I found this noted in one of my records and am raising a question again:
I used this method and am now using GEDitCOM to verify dates. (Found lots of mistakes) I'm assuming without a year for parent(s) birth/death, errors will be generated for birth of children and I can ignore them once I know the year is missing for either birth or death of parent. There's not always enough data to estimate the year when only date & month have been sourced.

A date without a year is completely useless. I'd leave the date out altogether, and add the month and year in the text of a Note.
"month and year" should, of course, be "month and day". (I wish we had the ability to edit our own posts!!)
