I have a large gedcom file, 2308 kb on my website. My internet provider times out the php functions after 30 seconds (occassionally I can get close to a minute). It is not enough time to process the index file. I have 3 minutes set in the program, but their settings over-ride mine. Is there anything I can do about this? Thank you.

2. You can find a temporary free host that supports php version 4.3. PHP version 4.3 has some enhanced functions that speed up the buildindex time. I have a 2.5 Mb file that will build indexes in under 10 secs on php 4.3

There are a few things that you can do to work around this:
1. build the indexes on your local computer. There is a section in the FAQ that describes how to do this here http://phpgedview.sourceforge.net/faq.html#buildathome
