I can't pass step 4 (configuration) due to error "No se puede escribir el directorio ./index/."
Ihave already created this directory in the server. How I overcome this problem so I can continue with the set up?
Help please

The directory "index" within the directory where you installed PhpGedView MUST have universal read-write-modify (777) permission.
At the same time you must give file "config.php" universal read-write-modify permission too. When you have finished setting up your site, you can reduce the permissions on this file to 755. Some people have success with setting the file permission to 644, but on my server this doesn't work, and I have to use 755.

I changed the permissions in the config.php file and now I see in step 1 that everything is OK. Thanks.
The directory "index" had permissions to 755, now is at 777, but I still get the same error. How I can correct it?

If you are doing your first installation, you should be using the INDEX directory contained within your PGV folder. After you have the site running correctly, you may choose to move the INDEX folder to non-webspace for extra safety, although this is certainly not a requirement. The .htaccess file in the INDEX folder should keep most hackers out. I never recommend a newbie trying to do too many things at once, including setting up a special index folder. Check the folder in your PGV folder to be sure it too has the correct permissions (and don't forget the media folder as well). -Stephen

Is there anybody can help me with importing a gedcom file?
I uploaded direcly a gedcom file to a directory I created on the server. I tried to different gedcom created files from different programs, but I always get nothing when import, even changing settings of time. I did set the permissions to the highest. The import hangs up, so I can't get PGV to work.
Thanks for looking into it.

Importing of a GEDCOM file that you've uploaded to the server doesn't always work very well.
If at all possible, you should upload and import the GEDCOM through the Manage GEDCOMs page in PhpGedView. If necessary, you can create a ZIP file containing your GEDCOM, and then upload and import that ZIP file. If you're uploading a ZIP file containing the GEDCOM, you have to take a few special steps when it's time to re-upload.
Your description of the problem: "the import hangs up" doesn't tell us anything useful. We won't be able to help you until you provide a better description.

Please make sure that all files in that "index" directory also have 777 permission.
It worked. Thanks to all
