I just started using this software and am finding it a little hard to navigate at the moment.
I've added my base family, but it's a little complicated.
My grandparents had 2 daughters and one son. One of their daughters had me with a partner (my biological father) and my half brother with another guy who she did get married to.
How do I reflect these things? my biological parents were not married, I was "adopted" by my grand parents whose 1 daughter had 2 kids with different guys.
I'm confused by this software, and how to find individual members. Is there someway to get a single list of all family members so I can edit them? Right now I really only know how to find/edit people from the main page and not all of the names of each family member are there.
Thanks for the help, I really want to get a family tree going.

All children are products of the union of two people (or donated eggs or sperm - but still two people) so every child belongs to a FAMily unit.
PGV takes care of the type of relationship the two gene providers had: married (MARR), not married( _NMR), Common Law, etc
Additionally, when a child is added, you have the opportunity to explain why that child is associated with that FAM unit - Birth, Adopted, Foster, etc
From your mother, make sure you have all of her 'relationships' reflected: marriages, one-night-stands, common-law, or whatever. Then, you can add yourself as 2 PEDI birth to your biological parents FAM unit, 2 PEDI adopted to your Grandparents, etc.
When you remember it all has to do with FAM units, its really quite easy. -Stephen

I added my biological mothers brother and sister, and forgot to set the pedigree when I added them and now can't find the way to change it again for those 2 people.

PGV actually discourages the use of PEDI, only making it readily available when you are adding an INDI. I would recommend that you use it for exceptions (when FOSTER/ADOPT/etc are pertinent to a particular family, and not do so otherwise. That's now what I do, as do most of the developers.
If you don't add it at the time you enter an INDI, return to the INDI where you wish to denote the PEDI, find the 1 FAMC record and add a 2 PEDI birth/adopted/foster/etc line using RAW edit and save. So, unless your mother and her siblings had different parents and were adopted by another, there is no need for the PEDI record.
As to your other question, to add your 1/2 brother, navigate to your mother, select CLOSE RELATIVES tab and at the bottom you'll see ADD A NEW HUSBAND (either new or one from an existing record). Click the appropriate link and create a new FAM unit. Once the FAM is created, add your 1/2 brother. Here it is appropriate to use the PEDI tag, birth, to help keep the record straight. -Stephen

why can't I just edit the details per user?? when I hover the edit button it just lets me edit the name and other junk I don't want to edit.
I need to go back and add birthdays, marriage dates, and add the pdeigree "birth" to some users but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this stuff without deleting the user and adding them all over again?!!?

FACT and EVENTS are easy to add for an existing INDI or FAM record. Scroll to the bottom and review the FAST FACTS (which you can modify) as well as the long pulldown listing of every event.
The only item not currently listed is PEDI, as I said it is discouraged, but certainly easy enough for you to add on the rare occasion you need one. You can actually add PEDI as a tag, but it will add it to each record as a LEVEL ONE tag, and to meet the standard, it should be a LEVEL TWO tag, sub the FAMC tag, and not stand on its own. -Stephen

Oh, and INDI facts/events go on INDI records, and FAM facts./events go on FAM records. New person = FAM, Marriage/Divorce/etc = FAM, Birth/Death/Burial/occupation/etc are INDI facts-events.

ok, so I added myself first, then I added my mother and biological father.
Now I want to add my half brother and his father, then continue on to add my grand parents and put myself as there foster child.
I'm not sure the right way to go about doing this?
also how do I change a users pdigree??
