    Henk Koopmans - 2009-12-31

    Hallo all,

    I just installed PGV 4.2.3.
Initially I had missing records that contained diacritics (äüè). This I solved by opening the gedcom in an editor and saving it as UTF-8.

Now I am missing all Notes under the Notes tab in PGV.

The Gedcom code, as shown by PGV is as follows:
    0 @I15@ INDI

    1 NAME Ruurd Hendriks /Koopmans/

    1 SEX M

    1 BIRT

    2 DATE 20 JUN 1864

    2 PLAC Wymbritseradeel / Woudsend

    1 DEAT

    2 DATE 27 FEB 1941

    2 PLAC IJlst, NL

    1 BURI

    2 DATE 3 MAR 1941

    2 PLAC IJlst, NL

    1 OCCU Boerenknecht, schipper, veehouder

1 RESI Indijk, IJlst, Donkerbroek, Haulerwijk, IJlst

    1 OPM @N11@

    1 NOTE @N12@

    1 FAMC @F58@

    1 FAMS @F4@

    1 CHAN

    2 DATE 31 DEC 2009

    3 TIME 12:25:36

    2 _PGVU admin

    When I click on @N12@
It shows the following Gedcom code:

    0 @N12@ NOTE

Further the "OPM" code is not recognized. With what code shall I replace it? Would "NOTE"  be a good idea? the link points to a Note record.

    Thanks for your help.

    Some additional info.

When I edit in PGV a "direct" (not shared) Note it shows up. (in my Gedcom there are only "shared" or linked notes).

When I create a "shared Note, then this is visible in the Gedcom code, but is not visible in the Notes display.

The problem with your NOTE is the structure. Where did you create this GEDCOM?

The correct structure for the note is this:

        0 @N12@ NOTE

    > Further the "OPM" code is not recognized. With what code shall I replace it? Would "NOTE" be a good idea? the link points to a Note record.

Correct, OPM is not recognised. What is it supposed to be? It is definitely not a valid GEDCOM tag.

Yes, the correct code would be 1 NOTE @N11@.  In fact, nothing else WILL work.

    > When I create a "shared Note, then this is visible in the Gedcom code, but is not visible in the Notes display.

How are you creating the shared note? It works fine if done correctly, by simply adding the 0 @Nxx@  tag

    Thanks very much.

I was able to clean up the gedcom.
The source data came from "Easy Tree" from Sierra On Line.
Obviously they have a problem with levels and notes.

    Again thanks.

    Henk
