Hi there.  I'm new to this, so I'm probably doing something stupid - hope you can point me in the right direction.

I'm using PGV 4.2.3 & I have 2 .ged files.  I'm trying to link one file to the other through a common person.  Here's the site .   I want to link the root person & all of his decendants in the Henry Schoup file to the same person in the Sussman file.  That person in the Sussman file is ID # I3310 & has ancestors and a wife but no decendents, but in the Schoup file he is ID # I1  & he has only decendents, no wife, and no ancestors.  So I go into the Sussman file, select the common person, click Close Relatives, then go down to the bottom to "Link Remote Person."  In Relationship to current person  I select "same as current" and I enter the person ID of the person in file "B".    I click "Add Link" & it says the link was successful.  But it lies - nothing happens.  When I view the person in the Sussman file, he has no decendants.  There appears to be no link, and no change to anything.  Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?  It's driving me nuts.  Thanks.

Remote linkage is buggy at best, so don't count on a perfect result, regardless of what you do.
There are a couple of improvements in the SVN code which helped solve some of these bugs. You should not be using 4.2.3 if attempting remote linkage.
Did it create the SOUR necessary for the linkage? Do you have rights in the other GEDCOM? Again, lots of little issues in making it work. I get very poor results and have given up completely, simply copying this data over to the master GEDCOM. If it belongs there at all, I think it including the actual results for later export makes much more sense than leaving it as 'plug-in' data.
