I have only started adding media since moving to PGV. However, as I look through the GEDCOM file I notice than there are up to 8 sequential OBJE tags for many item (see below example)

NP. This issue has been self-created by reimporting your GEDCOM several times and mis-checking the "Keep Media Links" box.
To easily remove the duplicates, go to ADMIN > Perform batch updates/edits on your GEDCOM > Remove Duplicate Links and process. It only removes one set of duplicates with each batch run, so you may need several processings.

Ouch, I looked at the link below and under heading Data and GEDCOM Administration, it shows 6 options on the graphic including "Perform Batch update edits on your GEDCOM". However, my Administration screen I only have 3 options Add, Add, and Add.
Yes I understand now, its an add on module. I have downloaded the full version and will work with that. Perhaps the Admin Users guide should note this?

Your comment to my original post leaves me curious about the proper use of "Keep Media Links." If I have a database with media links and I need to reimport for some reason, don't I need to have this box checked to prevent loosing my media links?

Some desktop programs don't understand media links. If you download your gedcom, edit it using one of these programs, then upload it back to PGV, you will have no media. When you upload a gedcom to replace a previous version, this option allows you to merge the media links from the old gedcom with the new gedcom.
If you haven't deleted your media links, this process will obviously duplicate them.

Rob,
1 - You didn't need to download the full version. Each module is available as a separate download, and Batch Updated is only about 36kb
2 - Yes you are right that the WIKI should be changed, However it will need a major re-write anyway when the new module and tab management system is released (hopefully the next release).
Personally I think Batch Update is such a basic and invaluable tool it should be part of standard PGV and not an optional module. Its not even as if its size might put some users off installing it.

I would agree. Now that I have used it I can see its wonderful and has enabled me to clean up my garbaged-up GEDCOM.
On the added modules, I probably need to do this anyway for Colors testing - to see if there is some template impact - such as in the Research Assistant.

Thanks Stephen:
On the Administration screen I don't see Perform batch updates/edits listing. Am I having a duh moment??
Rob
Rob
Several divisions on the screen:
A) Infomational
B) Data and Gedcom Administration
Within this section, left side, 3rd option down.
A direct link is "http://YOUR-PGV-SITE-URL/module.php?mod=batch_update"
Stephen
Just for clarity, Rob - Stephen is referring to the general site Admin screen, not GEDCOM Configuration.

I tried the direct link that Stephen provided but it only took me back to index.php. Is this an add on module? If so, I don't have it.
