I want to fork off a gedcom for my partners's family, as her sister will be mostly working on it.
Is there a way to start off a new gedcom from my partner, and automatically link her in?
Or do I just have to copy her information into the new one?
(apologies - I didn't see the 'translations' forum line. Admin please feel free to move - I can't see anywhere I can)

I use a very useful program, GEDSplit for this. Unfortunately, the site from which I downloaded this program in 2007 is no longer accessible. E-mail me directly at gkroll (at) keldine (dot) ca if you want a copy.

There are other GEDCOM splitters available on the Internet -- I haven't tried any of them, since GEDSplit does exactly what I want it to do. In my case, I maintain a comprehensive tree off-line, using Family Tree Maker, but some of the people in the tree do not want their information accessible on the Internet, so I have to split these branches off the main tree before I import the result into PhpGedView.
