My database contains lots of duplicate individual records. That is, individual records with the same name(s) and the same INDI.
Perhaps its not in fact duplicate records. I do however see duplicate lines in the Individual List. The different lines in the Individual List appear nearly identical, except that if there are multiple names, they may be listed in a different order... or a different name is bolded.
Does the same INDI number indicate that these are the same record in the database?? Perhaps the LIST is simply displaying it twice.
Since the records have the same INDI I can't use Merge Records to merge them.
Any help appreciated.

Probably more than one name associated with the indi. This will cause them to appear multiple times in the indi list.

If the INDI numbers are the same, then Greg is absolutely right. No other explanation.
Go to one of those INDIs, look at the raw GEDCOM data, and post an example here. We may be able to help point out any errors, or just explain why it is like that.
