I'm using revent svn and was looking at the operation of 'Show Privatised Records' option. The current arrangement (when this is set to 'no') is for one generation of records marked 'private' to be generated before the retriction comes into force. Anyone know where the code can be changed so that no private records are shown?
Thanks, David

I'm not sure what you mean by the "Show Privatised Records" option.

I 'think' you mean "Show Private Relationships'? Thats not a new feature though, its been there for at least 12 months.
It doesn't (shouldn't?) have anything to with when records are marked 'private' - none of PGVs private functions do that. All privacy is calculated 'on the fly' every time displays are generated.
The reason that option exists is because users have different views on what constitutes 'private'
With it set to 'No' then details of private individuals are hidden, but their existence is still displayed by there being an empty box on charts etc, **if they are linked to a public person.**
Set it to 'Yes' and they will disappear completely.
It sounds like you either expect, or want it to do something different?

Thanks Kiwi. Yes, that is the option I had in mind.
Your explanation of an individuals existence being displayed when linked to a public person is the part I probably misunderstood. I expected it to hide all private people; and that is the part I would like to change.
I find that when set to 'No' it will show only private boxes that are linked to a public person.
When set to 'Yes' it will show all private boxes.
