I am trying to generate a site map but keep getting the error:
    Access is denied.
    Error processing resource 'http://www.mekinda.com/phpgedview/modules/sitemap/gss.xsl'.

enough already. why not get your site running well and clean up your data errors and missing indi's before you worry about a site map? I've run PGV for over 6 years just fine without a site map. My site is uber-indexed by Google and Yahoo.

There is a bug in 4.2.3, fixed in SVN, but I don't suppose you installed SVN snapshot, did you?

Nope - did not install SVN.
All my issues arose when I upgraded to 4.2.3 - lost all my media, some married names, genders were all screwed up. My other PGVs run OK.
I would say that PGV is not that user friendly. I say that because unfortunatelly, I am not that familiar with php. I used to use PERL assambler, java, cobolt and many more, and have been involved in computer science since 1962 when I worked on a fortran compilier.

Knowing PHP is not necessary to installing or administering PGV. Confirming your configuration meets system requirements, following installation/upgrading instructions to the letter and being patient ARE necessary.

As we stated previously, if you made errors upon import, the easiest way to overcome those issues is to re-import the gedcom and make different selections (especially on media). I can not see how your issues with Married Names came from import as the data appears to be (assuming so, since I have not seen raw data) incorrectly formatted. Yes, 4.2.3 did change the way it manages names, this being done to accommodate non-english, accented and prefixed surnames, creating more tables to improve speed and presentation, but it did not have any negative impact on the display of names in the gedcoms that were properly formatted.

The same would be true of genders. The import process parses the data as presented and only if the data were incorrectly formatted to spec (v.5.5) would it create any display issues.

Perhaps you meant to say you are not that familiar with GEDCOM, rather than PHP. While PGV's GUI (like many genealogy programs) hides many of the underlying details of the raw code, having some familiarity with what the spec is and what the tags mean, including the nesting of tags, is essential to developing a well-constructed gedcom file. IMHO, its incumbent upon an admin of a family tree who seeks knowledge of his/her ancestral history to research the basics of the science. This is very different from learning "C++" to know how to use Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop. Genealogical pursuit is not simply writing a letter or coloring a photo, but much more is involved.

BTW, you didn't need to install SVN, just download the tarball of the latest SVN code which, in the latest four months, contains many trivial (and a few not so trivial) bug fixes. This code is much more stable than 4.2.3,

    Nicely written.
I'll get to SVN. I am just finishing going through the mysql database recor by record and modifying married names.
