I've tried now with index mode an mysql, but when I try to make any changes, or add a new familymember, I always get an php error. (And the calender won't work/popup).

All the permissions are set. (evet tried chmod 777 on all the files)
Tried everything.... why wont it work ???
And why does it work on other websites if it's such a basic error.. => I must be doing something very wrong....

issue was php 4.2
but the calendar still doesn't work

Yes the ending delimeter issue is a 4.2.x error and PHP should be upgraded to at least 4.3.x.
As for the calendar, can you give me the URL of your site for me to look at?
