    Hi!
I copied all the files to my server but when I enter http://www.mysite.com/PhpGedView/, nothing happens...I see all the files in the server (even de index.php which is the file that is supposed to open), but the screen remains white with no information at all. I aslo change the permissions according to instructions directions.

    Any help on this?

    Thanks!

    Zek

Did you create your database first?

Actually I copied the files to the server and tried to enter to the console according to installation instructions. I didn't create databases manually...is that something that needs to be done?

By the way...I run PHP files in a daily basis in that server.

        Any help is appreciate!

        Thanks,

        Zek

Yes, the database needs to exist first. PGV will create the tables, but not the DB.

I didn't find the instruction about creating the DB...what should be the name? I have other DB created in my MYSQL that I use every time and I'd like to use it.

I follow instructions step by step and in the part where:

"Next point your web browser to the phpgedView folder (http://www.yourserver.com/phpGedView/) to automatically begin the online configuration process."

        I don't see anything...just a blank page...no error...no nothing.

        Any idea?

        Thanks!

The strange thing is that I tried to see any of the php files of the PHPGEDVIEW directory and from all of them I got a blank page. My page has more then 20 php pages running without a problem :(

        Any suggestion?

Sounds possible that some or all files were damaged during the upload process. Try copying a fresh set.

What FTP programme do you use?
Are the pages so blank there's even no source code (right click and select 'View source")?
Is the full structure in place, all the sub-folders of phpgedview?

Exactly....no code are all...but for example i pointed the browser to some gif in phpgedview and I can see them. I'm using SmartFTP program and yes...I uploaded the full structure.

        Thanks,

PhpGedView has relatively high memory requirements, compared to many other PHP scripts.  It needs at least 32 Mb, and more is better.

You won't get any output at all until PGV is able to load its language files.

Check the memory_limit specified in the php.ini file.  If this PHP configuration option is missing altogether, the default limit is 8 Mb.

    Zek:

Please contact me off-line: gkroll at keldine dot ca

I'll need your site URL, login information for the existing database (location if not "localhost", port number if not default, name, userid, password).

I'll also need the FTP information (userid and password plus URL)

I'd like to check what you've done.  Your problems are most unusual.
