Hi guys,
In the config file under Contact Info, I've chosen Internal messaging with emails. When a website viewer clicks on the genealogy contact at bottom of a page and fills in the form, a message is received by me, but a copy is not sent to the viewer.
Can anyone suggest why this is happening?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Adrian

The program is not designed to send copies of messages to the originator.
It's been like that from "day 1".
If you want to change that behaviour, you'll have to modify the program yourself. If you do so, please share the modifications, so that everyone can benefit from your efforts.

Ah, OK, that'd explain it! At the bottom of the form it says a copy will be sent, and thought I'd configured it incorrectly.
I've never done any php, but if I have a go and it works I'll definitely share it!

I don't understand Gerry's comments. I have just tested this scenario on my web site and I received the sent message and received a copy of the sent message, using a different email address to that which receives the emails from the web site.

I am much, much less knowledgeable of PGV than Gerry is, but I suspect that you have missed/messed something in your site configuration. I suspect, but really have no idea, that you should check your settings in the Site Configuration using the SMTP tab.

Stuart:
The behaviour of PGV depends on how the message is being generated.
User messages to the site admin or the genealogy contact (the link at the bottom of every page) DO result in a copy being sent to the originator.
Admin messages, send from the Manage Users page, are NOT copied to the admin,
Some e-mail servers will not accept incoming e-mails if the "reply to" address doesn't exist. Check the "PhpGedView reply address" field in the Contact section of the GEDCOM configuration. The Help text explains this.

I checked the PhpGedView reply address, and it was filled in.
I have also now had some success with this, when using a different test email address. It works perfectly when the originator's email ends ".co.uk", but I had been testing it with a ".net" email which still doesn't receive the email copy. Thought I'd mention it here in case there is an easy fix.
Thanks,
Adrian

That's exactly what I was hoping would happen.
