I have run into a small problem in the wood theme which I use for my site that I will try to explain.
When I click the individuals name the screen pops open the individuals page and the "Personal Facts and Details" tab is highlighted but the link box on the left pops in full size for a split second but then is covered on the bottom half below Timeline Chart with the background image.
If I click on either of the other two tabs the link box comes back to it's full display including the help and support message link.
Once I have clicked on either of these and go back to the "Personal Facts and Details" the desplay stays correct.
This happens with both logged in users and in opening the site not logged in.
I haven't found any other sections that produce this effect but will post them here if I do.
I didn't get any error messages in the setup procedure or while looking through the site so I have no idea where to start looking for this one.
I'm using UTF-8 and Left-to-Right Document as default settings for my display. I can get the box to display correctly by switching to Right-to-Left Document and when switching back to L-to_R it maintains the full box.

Hey Steve,
I took a look at your site and tried a dozen names to get the malfunction to show up but unfortnately, I was not successful, or is that a good thing ;)
Is there any person id in particular that gives the problem?
Regards,
Roland

I,m running IE 6.0 browser and here is what I have found so far.
I,m stuck with a dialup connection "slow, slow" But it allows me to see the different sections while the page is loading so the box shows up full for a little bit. Just as the page is fully loaded it covers the bottom half with background color. Here is a screenshot of the upper left corner of the loaded page, http://www.lowmasterober.com/images/encode1.jpg
I'm going to set this up on my local machine later today to see if I can get it working, I'll post anything I figure out then.
Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,
The screenshot enlightened me a LOT. Now I know what I am looking for.
Fortunately, I must say it did not happen here. I am on broadband with IE 6.0.2800.
My gut feeling tells me it is your dialup causing it, then again, it should happen with all dial ups which in turn is not a good thing.
Let me know how you go locally, maybe even try with PHPLauncher? It will save you to trouble of having to setup the whole deal.
Regards,
Roland

As I have no dialup connection I'm not able to test it. But I had a problem with a page which had a lot of output in connection with IE on dialup-connections. If I used mozilla the problem was gone so it looked as if there is a bug in IE with large content of a page and slow connections.
Does the problem also occur if you try to show the page with mozilla???
bye, Kurt

John & Steve,
As mentioned before, I do not experience any of those problems and am on a high speed connection.
Any chance of reproducing this on a local or high speed connection? Is the DIV causing a timeout? Is the DIV really the cause of the problem? How does the source of the page look like?
Just questioning the situation :) Is it only happening to Steve's site or any?
Regards,
Roland

I,m not sure if it's the DIV but it sure looks that way. As I mentioned in the first post the box shows complete for about a half second and then is covered by the background image as the page completes the load.
I wish I had run beta 6 but never got a chance to.
I checked my beta 5 setup today and have no problem with the display on any screens.
I then set up a beta 6 "first time, all clean files and database" and I get the display error on the tree display and the individual display. On this setup the error doesn't go away when I hit refresh as it does in the 2.61.1 I also noticed the size of the box has been reduced in height.
As for localhost I was able to create the same display error one time when I first open the local site. I did this by shutting down IIS and setting up a completely clen install of 2.61.1 and a database. When I restarted IIS and set up 2.61.1 the following happens. As soon as I opened the site I clicked on the root ID name and open the individuals page the display error is there. This only happens one time and after that it seems to clear itself up. The same thing happened one time each when I clicked on the Individual Link, Family Link and Source Link but these also only happen the first time they are clicked. After they had cleared they don't come back even if I close localhost and reopen it. The only thing I didn't try was restarting the computer to see if this happened again.
Hope this helps to pin point the problem area.
Thanks
Steve

I started to wonder if this was a problem with a setting on my computer so I did the following tests.
I checked the site from my laptop which is XP Pro, IE 6.0, no IIS running on my home network. It showed the same display output as my main computer.
I then checked it from my sons computer which is Win 98 SE, IE 6.0 on the same network over the dialup connection and it shows the individual page correctly.
This made me think it was something with my computer settings causing the display to get messed up.
I them downloaded Mozilla 1.5 and installed only the browser to test output and got a different display problem which is shown in the linked page below.
At this point I thought maybe it was a browser resize problem. I changed the Win 98 computer, 17" monitor from 800x600 to 1024x768 resolution and the header box was now only partly shown. I changed my main monitor 19" form 1024x768 to 800x600 and the box displays correctly in IE 6.0 but still shows the same in Mozilla as the link above.
One last thing I noticed is when was when I opened the Descendancy Chart the box shows full for a short time but as the boxes start to pop on the screen the header box covers up to the same point as the individual page, as more boxes pop up the header box is also slowly uncovered in about 15 steps with IE 6.0. The Mozilla browser displays this page correctly and doesn't produce the same effect.
Since no one else has mentioned this problem it must not be showing on the other websites so I'm not going to file a bug report at this time.
Thanks
Steve

The localhost server works fine so I would have to say it's something with the dialup connection to the internet.
My local is running IIS version 5.1
Thanks

Steve,
I see the same phenomenom on my dial-up connection too. Very interesting. It cuts off right where the DIV for the facts and details starts.
I also saw it appear for a split second and then disappear. I will try it on a high speed connection on Monday.
I'm not sure what I can do to fix it though?

Hi Steve,
I've posted a patch for the mozilla overlap problem on the wood theme.
You can download it here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=856331&group_id=55456&atid=477081
I suspect that it will also help with the IE problem as well.

John
That fixed Mozilla I didn't see any overlapped sections on any of the links.
IE 6 is still the same, link box is still overlapped and Descendancy Chart still is uncovered in steps.
Since nobody else have metioned this you shouldn't spend much time on it. I'll let you know if I find anything that clears it up.
Thanks for the help.
Steve
John,
I am having this problem as well with IE6.
