Currently I use two databases with pgv 4.2.3 (one in \pgv-private and the other in \pgv-public). The files are in media-subdirectories. Is it possible to use the media directory \pgv-private\media\ for both databases?

However, you can create a shared "media" directory (the name doesn't matter) that's outside the web-accessible file space on the servedr. Use the media firewall feature to point at this shared directory.
Be sure to keep the original "media" directory within each PGV installation, and be sure to keep its permissions at 777.

Sorry, I cannot find a help file for the filewall. Please let me know, what I've to do.
The firewall pointed now on a directory outside of the webspace and did create inside automatically the subdirectories \media and \thumbs. What's the next step? Why can I see still the pictures? I did expect PGV create automatically the subdirectories inside of the media folder. Should I import a new gedcom file?

Does your new media firewall folder have full read/write permissions for itself and its contents? If so, then use gedcom config and turn off media firewall and then turn in on again.
Thank you for the hints. I can see now the pictures in private and public area. But something I made wrong.
I moved the media files of pgv1 in the firewall directory (with internal function). I can see it with FTP. It is default that it must be in pgv1 and pgv2 the media folder (incl. thumbs) with the htaccess and index files. Nothing else is needed. Of this reason I renamed the media folder (pgv1) and created a new one with htaccess and index files (without subdirectories for pictures). All works fine. Now I did see, that I've pictures also in the media of pgv1. I cannot understand that. Only in the firewall media directory should be all pictures.
Can I delete dangerless the pictueres in the media folder and renamed media folder of pgv1 ? What could be the reason that I've pictures also in the media folder of pgv1 ?

Sorry, I've seen now, that the media-folders in pgv1 and pgv2 are empty. Only the firewall media-directory includes photos. In this case, I think I made the firewall-installation right.
Thanks for help, Otmar
