Dear all I do have the option "Limit Privacy by age of event" (age 120) enabled as well as the option "Limit access to related people" (path length 3). So in this combination, a user can't see hes own grandfather if he's dead less than 120 years ago. Is there any other option, that a user can see his own relatives which are dead? BG, Stephan

I'm runnig 4.2.1. Yes, the grandfahter has a recorded date of death.
As you can see on the attachment, thats what the user sees.
In my opinion there are two options: 1. the ">120 dead" option and 2. the "only show relatives" option. I think that the 1st option is kind "stronger" than the second.
Do you have the same settings like I do? May be I should update to 4.3.0 too?

I would certainly advise upgrading to the latest-and-greatest 4.3.0. See the recent Help topic whose title begins with "Repost:" for download and install/upgrade instructions.
I believe the Use Relationship Privacy option is intended to limit the visibility of living people. Dead people should be visible no matter how they're related to the user in question.
The "Dead after 120 years" option is intended to control how PGV determines that a person is dead. Here, a Death, Cremation, or Burial record is positive indication that a person is dead. In the absence of date or place information, a "Y" in the data area of the 1 DEAT record in the GEDCOM would be considered a positive indication of death. Simply having a 1 DEAT record with nothing else is not meaningful and would be ignored.
You should note that the "120 years" option is adjustable in the Privacy configuration. I haven't looked through the code recently, but I believe that a person's age is determined from the earliest recorded event. Usually, that earliest event is the person's birth.

Thank for your explanations. I've upgraded yesterday to the current 4.2.4 as a first step. And it's interesting, because the user is seeing now neither the grandfather nor the grandmother details. So it's more restrictive now.
But, if I enable the option "Show private relationships", the names of the person previously showed as "private" are now shown.
And your're right, the "120 years" option is nor really responsible for that. But in correspondance with the enabled "Limit Privacy by age of event ", than it is. That's what I meant.
It's complicated ;-)
So I will try to update to 4.3.0 and see what happens…
Thanks so far!

It seems that PGV is working exactly as intended. Here's the Help text for the "Limit Privacy by age of event" option:
The Limit Privacy by age of event setting will hide the details of people based on how old they were at specific events regardless of whether they are dead or alive.
Use this setting along with the Age at which to assume a person is dead setting. For example, if you made the Age setting 100 and set this option to Yes, all persons, alive or dead, born less than 100 years ago would be set to private. People who were married less than 85 years ago and people who died less than 75 years ago would also be marked as private. Please note that using this option will slow down your performance somewhat.

I have checked this on my site, and I do not observe this problem. I'm using the latest-and-greatest 4.3.0 from SVN.
What version of PhpGedView are you running, and does the grandfather have a recorded date of death?
