I've done the update. Now I think I have problems. Stephen, you said turn off synchronize so I did. When I went to upload my DOWNLOADED Gedcom, I get warned:
A GEDCOM with this file name has already been imported into the database.

This GEDCOM file is not synchronized with the database. It may not contain the latest version of your data. To re-import from the database rather than the file, you should download and re-upload.

It was my understanding that downloading does the sync. However when I searched the forum I only saw a 2007 post that seems to me to say otherwise. Am I suppose to do BACKUP (from Admin) each night? I thought DOWNLOAD was okay then weekly I do BACKUP (it includes media, config, etc whereas I know the former is only the Gedcom)

The Welcome page shows the last INDI number is less than what I entered last night before I did backup and went to bed.

SORRY!!! I have poor eyesight and did not read the 10201 correctly. It is matches offline but still, would like to confirm should I DOWNLOAD or BACKUP?
And, the error is there so have not uploaded my Gedcom (as I've read here should be done after PGV updates).

The GEDCOM data in a "backup" and a "download" should be identical as they are both created from the data in the DB.  But a "backup" can include your users and other configuration settings stored in the database.  So for doing something like an upgrade a "backup" is a better way to go.

If you just download the GEDCOM file from your index directory via FTP or some other method outside of PGV, then it might not be synchronized (depending on your settings).

Thanks John. I increased the type size on my browser :) I was sure both actions were same goal except as you say, Backup includes more. What would prompt that error and do I ignore it? I've not done upload after PGV update since I turned off sync (very recently).

That warning is just an "are you sure" warning telling you that you will be replacing everything in your database with the data from that GEDCOM.  The warning is there in case you upload a new GEDCOM with the same as a GEDCOM that you have previously imported.
