    Hi.
I created a new GEDCOM and is empty. How do I add a new person to it?

If you properly created a new GEDCOM, then it is not empty, but has one 'dummy' INDI record, I1, which you need to modify as the initial individual. That person should appear in the INDI List and on the Welcome Page stats.

Hopefully, you followed the WIKI instructions, or noticed the recent thread with a detailed procedure:

    Hi Stephen

I don't see the dummy INDI record. Also in the recent thread instructions you mention in step 3 that  "We specify that the main INDI ID number will be I1". Where exactly is the main INDI ID number?
    My version is 4.2.3.

Better question - Did you follow each of those steps enumerated, precisely as listed?
If not, you don't have a dummy gedcom.

If you need a blank one to IMPORT, this is what is created:

    0 HEAD
    1 SOUR phpgedview
    2 NAME phpgedview
    2 VERS 4.2.3 svn
    1 DEST DISKETTE
    1 DATE 17 AUG 2010
    2 TIME 09:47:47
    1 GEDC
    2 VERS 5.5.1
    2 FORM Lineage-Linked
    1 CHAR UTF-8
    1 FILE Startup-GED.ged
    1 PLAC
2 FORM City, County, State/Province, Country
    1 SUBM @SUBM@
    0 @SUBM@ SUBM
    1 NAME Stephen
    0 @I1@ INDI
    1 NAME John /DOE/
    1 SEX M
    1 BIRT
    2 DATE 1 JAN 1850
2 NOTE Edit this individual and replace their details with your own
    0 TRLR

Simply clip the GEDCOM, aave as a text file with the name of the GED you wish, i.e:    myfamily.ged

And IMPORT this. same as using the CREATE A NEW function.
