There are no known issues with this customization. Obviously, if you are following the proper procedure, you have permission problems, having changed something you should not have. More likely, you are not saving the changes.
    1) Click on the customize MyGEDView Portal page link in upper right welcome block.
    2) In the configuration window, move the blocks you wish to add to the left or right.
    3) Click 'CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE' to save the changes.
    4) Refresh the page.
    5) If you have no recent changes or pending changes, these blocks may not appear.

I really don't know why you'd use the 'pending changes' block as a link appears within the footer on EVERY page, when changes are pending your approval. That is much more convenient than spending time on your Portal Page, but JMHO.

    Hi Stephen,

That's exactly the way I do it, but nothing changes!

You might have to clear the cache files in PhpGedView.  There's a button to do this on the page where you customize the appearance of the Welcome page.

    Hi there,

On the page where I change MyGedview Portal is no button to wipe the
cache. I did find it in Admin, cleanup index file. That, however has
    not resolved the problem.
An associated problem with this is, that I get no more messages from
logged in users who have changed some things.
Very annoying. I haven't got a clue what changed, because 4 days ago
everything was working as I would like it.

    Regards, Wim.

If you didn't change anything, and this suddenly started, then your ISP changed something. Check with them.
The email notification of changes is activated by a visitor to either the Welcome page or their Portal page with the Pending Changes block activated. If that block is not showing, then there will be no emails.

    Hi Stephen,

What I forgot to mention is that I have two databases, one for my wife's family, and one for mine. The one for me does not show recent changes, the other one does. So I don't think it has anything to do with my provider, but something in PHPGedview.
Hopefully you can find the culprit, and suggest a fix for this, as I cannot do without the pending changes block and neither the email notification of a change.

    Regards, Wim.

Not sure I have any ideas, but I'd be happy to poke around. Send me admin access U/N and P/W with URL and I'll let you know.
we are talking changes made by parties other than you - correct? I assume you have your changes set to auto-approve and therefore there would not be any pending changes. And, I am to assume you have these GEDCOMs within the same installation, so if the recent and pending changes appear for your 2nd GEDCOM, there should be no problems with your first (yours).

    Hi Stephen,

No, I have not set auto-approve for any outsiders, I have to approve the changes. This is valid for both Gedcoms, which are indeed within the same installation.

I'll set up an account for you, let you know when I'm ready.

    Wim.
