When I installed phpGedView in INDEX MODE, for the purpose of doing some gdbi experimentation, I learned that my installation in INDEX MODE couldn't handle more than one GEDCOM.

When the second gedcom was placed in ./index/ and I tried to import it, the gedcom-configuration said, that the second gedcom couldn't be found.

When the third gedcom was placed in ./index/ and I tried to import it, the gedcom-configuration said, that the third gedcom couldn't be found.

I can add, that this problem only occur when the gedcoms are uploaded manually in the ./index/ folder.

If the gedcoms are uploaded using the applications upload function, the problems described are not encountered.

However, at the webhotel where my eckmann.dk domain is hosted, the applications upload function can't be used (I have no idea why).

At my private server here at home, the applications upload function works alright and enabled me to test, that the problem previously described doesn't occur if the gedcoms are uploaded using the applications upload function.

      Arne,

I just looked into it but how do you manually upload Gedcom files? Do you just copy the .GED file and create the other files manually? if so, how do you make the index file manually?

Just interested to know (feed my knowledge plz)

      Hi Roland

Prior to the introduction of the phpGedViews upload function you had to transfer the gedcom file to the server using FTP.

Now, since the phpGedViews upload function won't work at the webhotel where my eckmann.dk domain is hosted, I once again has to resort to upload the gedcom files to the server and placing it in the ./index/ folder - and once the gedcom file is placed in the ./index/ folder, the procedure is exactly the same as it would be if it was uploaded via the phpGedViews upload function.

The phrase "manually" probably isn't correct in this context, but I use the phrase here to tell, that the gedcom file wasn't uploaded via the built-in upload function, but manually via my FTP-Agent.

Since FTP was used with the earlier versions of phpGedView, I guess that phpGedView should handle both situations equally well.
