In an effort to help new users and especially those with limited computer and on-line experience, I have set up an integrated chat system, acessible only to registered users and password protected to prevent invasion from the outside world.
The Mods are accomplished entirely in a modifed theme and the installation of a readily available chat program (available on sourceforge) and the creation of an .htaccess and .htpasswd pair to enable protection.
The mods to the code (a modified version of the theme "simplygreen) were developed from suggestions made by several forum members, most notably kiwi_pgv.
My thanks to all who aided my quest.
Anyone interested in details of the mods please contact me and I will gladly provide them.

Just been looking at chat programs on SF and wondering why none had been implemented with PGV which would be in my opinion would be a natural addition and greatly help with collaboration.
The PGV messaging system would be excellent if it had a way of alerting you of a new message arrival while on line - it's unfortunately a one way affair. I then found your post.
Would be so kind as to let me know what I need and need to do in order to have your mods working on my system - am using the Standard theme with a few superficial adjustments.

Has anyone else tried to integrate a chat system into PGV?
There are so many of them around.
Is it also possible to add an alert to the messaging system advising one of the arrival of a new message while you're on line?
