This is because Names, Notes, Sources, and Media Objects are all non-standard facts. Standard birth, death, etc facts are easy because they all follow the same gedcom pattern:
1 TAG
2 DATE
2 PLACE
Name gedcom sub records look like this:
1 NAME
2 GIVN
2 SURN
etc.
So I have to handle the names seperately from the other gedcom sub records. But now that I have it done for adding children, it should be easy to do for editting current people.

John,
When it comes to adding new people in gedview, I know that is not yet available except for adding children.
How come I cannot change the name of the person I am viewing?
