I really like the output from phpgedview. I have a problem though. I would like to be able to put my website on CD. Obviously my static pages are fine, but I can not find a way to get php interpreted on a PC with out a web server etc.
What I would really like is a version of phpged view which output static html files from all possible pages, obviously excluding the searches.
I do not know php well enough to know if this is even possible. Any thoughts anyone. I have looked at the static page generators, but none output such nice pages as phpgedview.

A quick way that might work for you (without any new development of this feature) is to use a "web site copier" that can create a static snapshot of your site.
You can then burn the copy onto a CD.
A good free open source web site copier is HT Track http://www.httrack.com/
Just be careful because the tool can really hammer your site. In the configuration try to set it to only use 1 or 2 connections if using the default cuses problems.(I think it can concurrently use up to 48 and overwhelm many servers). This can be set in the Option Panel > Flow Control set the number of connections to whatever suits you.
The only problem I see would be logging in from the tool. I would guess that you can configure your site to show all living people before you copy it, or (I have not tried this) set the irst page to the login page using the userID and password as get parameters. This will probably log you in and let you copy as you wish.
You might have to tweak the settings in Option panel > Scan Rules.
I hope this was of help

The demo for one product does not include php and so it is difficult to tell. The second one worked most of the time, but both are quite expensive at $125 and $299 each.

Here are a couple of programs that I found doing a quick google search that claim to give you the ability to run php from a CD:
http://www.indigostar.com/microweb.htm
http://www.triplehash.com/content.php?id=26
PhpGedview might run slow off of a CD though since it has to open the gedcom file every time a script is run and opening files off of a CD is slow.
Let me know what you decide to do and how well it works out for you, because I'm curious :-)

Thanks for those I will let you know, how I get on.
I have tried the copying method, but with the searches etc the number of files is HUGE.
