Just a catchy topic. I was looking into the Anniversary Calender today. There I saw that a person died on this day 23 years ago. The text between parentheses says: 23 year anniversary.

My take on it would be that we need a different kind of text for deceased people.

    How about it?

I have the same problem with the Dutch translation, which is associated with celebration also. On the other hand, my dictionary says anniversary means "yearly return of date". And that's exactely what it is. But I'm always open for suggestions.
      You have any alternatives, Roland?

My suggestion is that gedview looks at the event and then chooses which word to take. As the event is now calculated, it should not be too difficult is my guess.

Boudewijn, I am also Dutch so I know where you are coming from.

I guess we need the word "geleden" as in "23 jaar geleden" which translates to "23 years ago".

That is my suggestion. I am willing to code this. :D

I agree with you. Why didn't I think of that myself? ;-)
I translated "Verjaardagskalender" (anniversarycalendar) to "Gebeurtenis kalender" (event calendar) also.
New dutch languagefiles will be uploaded in a few minutes....
Our english-speaking collegue-users may request John to alter it in their language.

        Boudewijn.

Do those files just contain the translation of the event calendar or also the fix for the different kind of names for either passing away or birth? I think the latter needs coding, but I might be wrong.

btw, can anybody just upload files?

I just changed the text in the language files. So all events in the event calendar are displayed with the same text behind.
The events themselves already have different displayed names, so what is the need to change that?
Anybody can upload files to the patch-directory.

Thanks for the files Boudewijn. Now I see what you mean that nothing needs to be changed. The way it is now you just mention how many years ago the event took place. Instead of for example say that it is somebodies 50th birthday. I guess this is the easiest way :) Otherwise you will need to add the numbers and their extension (50th, 3rd).

This was an issue quickly solved :)
