The "View Notes for..." and "..Sources for..." take up a LOT of space, and I haven't quite figured out how to turn them off or remove them.  The 'Hide & Show' in configuration says "No," so IS there another switch?

"The 'Hide & Show' in configuration says "No,"  - says No for what?

There is no switch for this at present. There was a lot of debate about it when first introduced (see Open Discussion forum, a few weeks back), and it was decided to leave it fixed intially.

Personally I think you may regret removing it. It is a great improvement in the ability to navigate from person to person from any tab.

"Show all Notes and Source references on Notes and Sources tabs" - actually I don't want to remove it, but 'collapsing' might be good.  I'll see how it goes.

        Thomas,

Your idea about collapsing the Navigator I have already thought about.
(Like a right hand margin "menu slide into the page" which I think is possible.)
Maybe I need to think some more <grin>

Anyway, at least you can turn them off for now (albeit a manual change) until I can sort out a GUI config.

Now I'm confused - ""Show all Notes and Source references on Notes and Sources tabs"" has nothing to do with the "View Notes for..." and "..Sources for..."  panes on the right side of the screen, and those panes can't be collapsed.

      Thomas,
How to turn off the Navigator for each tab.

I have uploaded the preparatory individual_ctrl.php file to SVN

You can download it here (Revision 4982)
(Note: cut and paste the complete link into your browser)
Then right click the download link and "Save Link As" to your desktop

      http://phpgedview.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/phpgedview/trunk/phpGedView/includes/controllers/individual_ctrl.php?view=log

On lines 61 to 67 are the options for showing or hiding each tab.
"SHOW" or "HIDE" (fairly self evident)

Then backup/rename and replace your includes/controllers/individual_ctrl.php on your site with this new file.

Sorry this a quick and dirty fix, but it will do until I have time to sort out a proper GUI in the PGV config somewhere.
Note: this Revision 4982 fix is valid for release 4.2

Brian:  Did we ever get a "switch" for the "View Details/Notes/Sources/Media for…?"  With ten or more siblings, and another ten plus children, it can make for a LONG individual page.  If so, I can't find it.  If not, I'll add a Feature Request.

No there isn't, at present, but don't waste time with a Feature request. The next release (hopefully) will have a couple of alternative solutions. You can view them at www.pgvthemes.com - just go to Demo - FuturePGV. No need to login, just go to any Individual facts & Details page.

The first solution is that ALL the tabs can be managed, - turned on/off, moved etc. That includes the Family Navigator, which becomes a tab.

2nd - that tab, if you have it, has button to click to make it "sticky" or not, as each user wants at the time.

3rd, there is a completely new alternative. On the Demo, click on the (tiny) "+" in a blue box on the ectreme right of the page.

    Thomas,

Kiwi's reply is absolutely spot on.  I do advise you take a look at  www.pgvthemes.com
