From an average of maybe 75 hits a day, yesterday I got over 1,000 resulting from searches for "i3861 index" - all from Portugal, Guatemala, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, etc. It all started sometime late (my time) Monday.) Anyone have any idea what they might be looking for? - it sure isn't my family tree!

Actually, this is a true Help question.
Check the PGV log. It might tell you that it's found a new search engine.
My site gets quite a few hits from sosospider, all of which I've blocked by means of the IP address block. It's not obeying robots.txt.
These are (almost) all coming from Google.
I've been using the very-well done Piwik from Sourceforge.net.
