How can I add multimedia attachments after a person has been added? I can't find it anywhere…

It depends how or where you want to add the media items, and what modules you may or may not have installed….
1 - For a simple level 1 media item attached to an individual, go to the Media tab on that individuals page. There you will see an "Add media " option
2 - If you have installed the Album tab (Lightbox module), that has the same feature. Note you can choose whether to have both Album and Media tabs, or just the one.
3 - If you want to add a level 2 media item, perhaps (say) as a reference to a BIRT event, simply edit the BIRT event. You will find an Add Multimedia option at the bottom of the edit window.
4 - An alternative it is to go to the Manage Multimedia page, and upload the media item there. Once uploaded the same place will have an "Add links" option, where you can link it to any individual or family record (at level 1).

See, I saw the media tab, but it was greyed out. So I never thought to click it. I think in the end I will make heavy use of the WWW fact to link to existing media, rather than importing it all into PGV. I have a PHP Gallery, Flickr, Youtube, etc. I don't really want ANOTHER media store. :)
I think I have the swing of PGV now. For my next trick, I will import a 600+ record GEDCOM file with multiple branches and see if I can merge it with the data I have.
Thanks for the help so far.

Just a thought, thockin. If I am viewing your site I'd get turned off if all the media were links to external sites. Easy to get lost going back and forth (you'd be surprised how many users don't understand multiple browser windows).
I know what you're saying about multiple locations for media but the images in PGV are to support or enhance a fact or event, not me a multimedia gallery like the other places.

Thats a whole new issue!!
PGV can only merge individual records, one at a time. It does that well, but nothing more. It doesn't currently have a bulk merge facility.

I think thockin has picked up on a feature of PGV you might have missed. When you add a new media item, if you enter a URL instead of actually uploading an item, PGV will display that media item as if it were actually stored in PGV. The user will be totally unaware of its "real" location. No need for other browser windows, re-direction or anything.

The 'greyed out' tabs can be confusing at first. They are only greyed out if you have edit or greater permissions, and then greyed out = empty. Other visitors don't get a tab at all if its empty.

Ah, okay kiwi. True, I import all images to PGV relating to the facts/events.
If I get ambitious may add external gallery (Zenphoto) but would use index page of site to take visitors there as the images wouldn't overlap.

So do I, but you can still use external links for those (if you want) instead of importing the actual photo.
Before you add Zenphoto - don't forget PGV has the Gallery2 module. Its benefit is the single login requirement. If you add Zenphoto as a link from an index page your users will need two logins, one for PGV and one for Zenphoto (assuming your Zenphoto will need a login).

Zenphoto is less complex and easy updaing. My web host dropped install for Gallery2 a year or two ago so I switched. That said, haven't played with my photos since getting addicted to PGV.

Carefully :-)
If you downloaded the PGV "All" package you have the module already. If you downloaded the "Basic" set then you need to get the gallery2 module.
BUT that is only a tiny part. The module is only the linking part. It does contain a readme.txt file which will help further. The main point is that you also need to visit the gallery2 site and download their product as well.
I also recommend you read the following link, as it helps with a few of the intricacies of getting the two to play 'nice' together!
It does work though, as I have had it in use myself. I removed it only because it found it unnecessary on my site. I instead made a conscious decision to have ALL my media stored in PGVs media system. Personally I find gallery2 a hugely bloated product, unless you really need ALL its features. No criticism of the product, just the amount of space it takes up relative to the use I had for it.
