I've set the hotlinking protection to the subdirectory of my PGV site (all files). It's so consistent entry is from the subdomain top level. This step writes to .htaccess file. Does this interfere with PGV in any way?

    Mac:
Try it and see.  You might run into problems with the media firewall, which uses .htaccess to redirect requests for media files that are in the protected media directory.

My media is where PGV put it. I want to build a site around PGV and have the option, if there was need, to move PGV (for who knows what reason) without having to give new URL. If you can only link to mydomain.com/ and not to mydomain.com/pgv, that solves it. It will also give you option from top level to get help, read more info, go to other directories once they get built  (I'm software challenged at the moment and hate hand coding web pages.)

    Mac:
PGV doesn't care what directory structure or directory name it lives in.  The important thing is to make sure that the "server URL" field in the site configuration is left completely empty.

You would be well advised to relocate the "index" directory to be outside your web-addressable file space.  Once that's done and working, you should enable the media firewall and then move all of your media to the protected directories.  You use Manage Media to do this move.  Make sure that the existing "./media" directory remains fully writable so that the media firewall can create a .htaccess file there or update an existing one.

When you have to move PGV to a different directory structure or name, you'll need to either edit that .htacess file to point to the new place or move the media from the protected directory and then back again.  I prefer to do the latter.

    Hi canajun23h,

Sorry, been swamped so couldn't attend to this until now. I'm not quite sure what you mean by moving 'index' so don't want to guess.

I've not done media firewall since my first attempt when I started PGV and I guess being new, was told  not to. I'm looking at the Wiki <http://wiki.phpgedview.net/en/index.php?title=Media_Firewall> writting for 4.1.2 which I'll follow?
