how do i correctly add an AKA 2 show up in the name?
i added _AKA to the $textfact and $nondatesfacts arrays and it now creates a fact with the aka which shows in the listed facts:
1 NAME Maria /Jansen/
2 SURN Jansen
2 GIVN Maria
1 _AKA Maria Janssen
but i would really like to add it to the name..
1 NAME Maria /Jansen/
2 SURN Jansen
2 GIVN Maria
2 _AKA Maria Janssen
same sort of problem with sources :
this is what pgv creates when i add notes to a fact..
1 SOME FACT
2 SOUR @S1@
3 PAGE http://www.url.com
2 NOTE blah blah
3 CONT more blah
and i would like 2 have:
1 SOME FACT
2 DATE 16 May 1799
2 PLAC Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Nederland
2 SOUR @S1@
3 NOTE http://www.url.com/
4 CONT blah blah about this link or source
it just looks better ;)
any hints?
bdw.. direct "text" a editing a full gedcom record would really be nice ;)
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
My 3000 people database is exported from paf and contains a lot of these AKA's ..
it would be nice if I could keep my database consistent, and i don't like the idea of changing the _AKA's to names by hand ;) ..
same thing for the second problem:
when exported from PAF the source notes and url are hidden until i click the + ..
but when i add data using pgv it shows up directly beneath the source. the + doesn't work.. and the link isn't 'active'.
that's why i would like the other "order".
I have 2 fact "sorting" related questions:

I don't think the GDBI client can add a nick name.
By the way the proper gedcom way to do that would be to use 2 name tags:
1 NAME John /Doe/
1 NAME Jack /Doe/

this is a record created in paf :
http://genealogy.bastein.biz/individual.php?pid=I38
and this is created in pgv.. note the AKA and the different behaviour of the source fields
http://genealogie.bastein.biz/individual.php?pid=I168
The RFE you created for direct editing of GEDCOMs
[ 952484 ] text editing a full record.
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=952484&group_id=55456&atid=477082 will probably give you the control you want if and when it is implemented.
