I use the minimal theme because it is a very clean & clear interface with no extraneous icons etc, just meaningful words. I have just upgraded to 4.2.4 and it appears the theme has been corrupted there are silhouettes which add nothing but make the site look tacky as though pictures are missing.
How can I remove all these silhouettes, they really do look awful?

There's a GEDCOM configuration option for this.  Multimedia section, General group, "Use silhouettes" option.

This is an all-or-nothing option that will apply to all themes.

    Antique
Most people like this feature as it serves as a placeholder to match personal INDI photos (consistency) as well as a quick view of gender - HOWEVER, we made the feature configurable for people like yourself. It is easy to find, using the filter feature on the EDIT GEDCOM configuration, simply type "silho" and you'll immediately see the
    Edit GEDCOM > Configuration > Edit > Multimedia > Use silhouettes = YES/NO
You can use a SQL command to change this on ALL your GEDCOMs at once in the DB.

The problems with this upgrade get worse. I have just realised that cms_login no longer works. In Internet explorer it returns the error 403 forbidden, in chrome and firefox it just returns a blank iframe where phpgedview should be. cms_login is included in 4.2.4. The silhouettes only appear after logging in to phpgedview.

canajun2eh Thanks for your quick reply. I have never had the configuration change as a result of an upgrade before.

The CMS problems are probably caused by the improved hacking detection in "modules.php".

To resolve this problem, I'll need detailed access and login information for your site.  That way, I can see what is being passed to "modules.php" and is being rejected.

I have received some information from "antiqueone".  He is using a package called "geeklog" to manage a common login to several applications including PhpGedView.

It seems as though the external interface to launch selected portions of PGV has been changed for security reasons.  We're continuing off-line.

I have recovered my site, that I had upgraded to 4.2.4, back to 4.2.3 with patches and it appears to be working fine.

That doesn't explain why your site quit working in the first place.

You'll have to track down the source of your problem, so that you won't be bitten by future upgrades.  We can't do that for you.
