I just installed phpgedview and set all the privacy settings to "Authenticated user" but I cannot find where to lock down the header frame settings. A unauthenticated user can get to the main page and will see only the login box in the main window. However, across the top of the page are the buttons for Charts, Lists, etc. Even with privacy set, those options seem to work without requireing a login.
How do I make those buttons non-functioning or missing until the user logs in?
Thanks.

You have your site truly 'locked down". You require registration to see anything? If so, while the 'buttons' are visible, there should be no data displayed.
Under Manage Gedcom > Configuration-EDIT > Access and Privacy > Require visitor authentication
do you have this set to YES? If so, any attempt to access any feature, button, chart, graph, etc will cause the LOGIN page to load.
Pretty easy. Why block the header from display when it simply takes you to LOGIN?

I forgot to mention - not sure WHY you'd want to use this feature in this fashion. I've found over 40 cousins who have assisted with expanding my data on allied families that I never would have found had they not Googled a name and discovered our site. The primary directive of PGV was the collaborative benefits that it offered. Certainly your free to operate your site in whatever fashion you desire, but you may be missing a whole lot, and the privacy features of PGV are excellent, allowing a wide variety of blocking on information, from NO living information to names only.

Thanks for the reply. I found the setting you mentioned and it resolved the problem I was having. Thanks.
As far as site management goes, I am setting this up as a proof of concept at this point. Once I get the site operating properly, I fully intend to open the site up more for collaboration so relatives far and wide can submit thier changes for review or just look at the data collected. I am trying to get the players on board with the idea first.
Thanks!
