I Have a number of different "islands" of dingfelders that I am trying to merge eventually.  until I do that successfully, I need to be able to navigate to them.

So, I added the root of each branch as a "favorite".

    http://www.dingfelder.org/modules.php?name=familytree

This seems to work ok.  It lists the roots, and each one has an icon to the right that brings up a menu where people can choose the decendency chart.  Selecting that menu item shows something like:
    http://www.dingfelder.org/phpGedView/descendancy.php?pid=I100

One thing thats wacky though is that the first favorite does not have the icon to pull up the menu.

can anyone tell me why ?

Also,  how can i make it so clicking the indivdual shows the decendency chart by default instead of showing the person's personal info ?
(i.e. selecting them from within the dependency chart would show their info, while selecting them within the favorites list would show their tree)

      no comments ?

Am I the only person who has multiple branches with no connection (yet found) ?

Apparently...  I assume that each of us have 5% of our file that we don't know is there--people who aren't linked at all, or are so far distant that we wish PAF had a button to delete them in bulk.  And I would love to see every person or family on my file in one great tree (with some sub-trees on the side), even if I had to get a 48"x20' banner at Kinkos to do it, but I don't know how, and I assume that may be easier handled on your home family tree software, not over the web.

One thing you can do to jump straight to a descendancy chart would be to put the links in the news section.
as for the ability to bookmark a descendancy tree etc. have a look at an RFE for what seems to be what you want:
      https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=917424&group_id=55456&atid=477082
Add you comments to it if you have other ideas.
As for the icon, I assume you have the dhtml favorites and seem to remember someone complain about this and I am not sure it was fixed. If it wasn't  file a bug report

Yes I can tell you why ;) The person ID is not correct. This is mostly due to the same ID number for different people from different gedcoms. This should be fixed in CVS. (I say so because I did it)

BUT it might not work at the moment because a change is being carried regarding the way the appropiate gedcom is being passed on.

Still I would like you to try it. If you want to follow the progress on the favorites issue please see:

Yesterday I found another bug in the favorites so, I am still working on it. This bug is that it is not possible to add a person to your favorites in Xenea mode. I have not yet looked at other themes.

      Roland

I checked and made some final changes. The favorites should work fine now across PGV. If there are still any problems, please file a bug report for me ;)

      Regards,

      Roland

        Hey Roland!

As usual, if you report a bug fixed, it will be tested by the submitter :-P

I would say it is stable enough but still advice you to make a backup of your files in case it does not do what you expect it to do or some other mishap.

      Regards,

      Roland
