I have a relative who registered recently.  She edited her record to change the spelling of her first name and removed her maiden name.  So I asked her why before I would approve the edit.  She asked me to call her and said the info she changed was very personal.  I can't figure out why since her parents names are there, unless she is not really her dad's child and her maiden name was different or changed  and doesn't want anyone to know this.  In any case, before I called her I wanted to see if I could just make her record private to everyone except me.  That was no problem, as I tested on my record.  But I have 2 accounts, one as admin, and one as user so I can test changes I make for users.  When I log in as user, I also cannot see my record.  How can I hide my record from everyone except admin AND myself as user?  Nothing I have tried seems to work.  I also tried to just make SURN private for her record to all but admin, but it would not work.

If you set her entire record to confidential, the only people who should then see it would be the 'owner' as specified in the USER profile, and the admins.
Manage GeDCOMS > Edit PRIVACY > Add setting for USER PRIVACY > SHOW ONLY TO ADMINS
This person should still be able to see their own data.

    for non-users, you can use
Manage GeDCOMS > Edit PRIVACY > Add new setting for  PRIVACY by ID > SHOW ONLY TO ADMINS
this should have the same result - see and edit their own data, but not visible to others.

    Stephen,

I have 2 accounts, one as admin, one as a user with edit rights.  Call them USER and ADMIN.  Both are assigned with my record for the individual record id and pedigree chart id.  I go to Privacy Settings by ID.  I select my record and select Show only to Admins.  If I log in as ADMIN, I see my record.  If I log in as USER, I see private.

If I go to  USER PRIVACY settings, it only asks for a user and then what ID record I want to use.  The help box says choose show or hide, but these are not options.

Perhaps I am just missing something.  You mentioned in the first line … 'would be the 'owner' as specified in the USER profile…    When I go to a user profile, there is no place for the owner?  What you state is what I am looking for, basically that it would be private for everyone but the Admin, and that she would also be able to see her own record.

Given the above, say she is registered as Jane for a user name.  The record for her is I9999.  What do I do so no one will see I9999 and under her parents will show private for the child, but if Jane logs on, she will see her record?  As I said, I went to privacy and added I9999 under privacy settings by ID and show only to Admins, but when I log in as Jane, it still shows private.
