    Hi,
Can somebody explain why certain parts of my family tree are "blanked out" in the Pedigree Chart?
When I try to create a Chart that contains certain people, I get an almost blank Chart containing only
two people at the bottom of the window. If I try some other Chart, such as the Interactive tree or the Circle diagram
I get all the people that should be there. All the family relations are correct in the Family and Indvidual screens.
I have also tried vieweing the same Gedcom in at least two other Gedcom Viewers, and they all show the Pedigree chart
correctly. It is only in the Pedigree Chart in PhpGedView that the family tree is drawn incorrectly, and only when the people
at a certain generation level is present (or rather should be present) that the problem occurs.

I would appreciate any help. Regards Ulf.

Ulf Sorry - perhaps a language issue, but I don't understand what you are doing and what you see and don't see. Additionally, you've failed to disclose the version of PGV you are using, so there may be a bug that has since long been squashed, since I see no issues with any of the four styles, at any level. You are welcome to examine my PGV site at http://pgv.MyArnolds.com to see if you can duplicate this effect. Please explain your procedure and perhaps supply a URL for us to examine the problem, should you be able to render the 'error'. You will, most likely receive a GM error. Just click through it since my GM installation now is applied to my webtrees install. -Stephen

    Stephen,
The version used is the latest available, it was downloaded and installed last week.

Please visit http://www.granlunds.name/familytree. If needed select English as language. Under the Welcome Page icon select Majken.ged. Select Charts, Pedigree chart. You should now get a pedigree chart that has Root Person ID " I421". Select 3 generations. You will then see a correct chart. Now select 4 generations and you will see the problem. The chart is incomplete.
All the persons that are shown in the 3 generation chart will be missing in the 4 generation chart.
    Regards Ulf

What I can say is this is NOT a bug or code issue with PGV, but rather a GEDCOM problem.

I can't tell what is creating the page to fail to load, but it is incomplete, indicating that there are, most likely, GEDCOM errors.
    Have you applied GEDCHECK ?

A good example of the issue can be viewed by starting at I421 and selecting PEDIGREE CHART from the sub-menu. This should display her parents and grandparents (F3) and (F9), but rather it displays (F8)

Additionally, the expansion link from this pedigree is:
    http://www.granlunds.name/familytree/pedigree.php?PEDIGREE_GENERATIONS=4&rootid=I483&show_full=1&talloffset=1
I483 has nothing to do with those two displayed

Somewhere in these Nyberg families, it seems  you have missing or misdirected pointers.

Pack up the GEDCOM (zip) and send me a copy and I'll take a look, or run GEDCHECK to see the problems visually with PGV.

I can report to others who may reference this thread that Ulf's issues are not PGV generated, but rather an import problem with pointers to the correct GEDCOM. His two gedcoms have 'crossed' causing calls to the wrong INDI GEDCOM ID Xref's. A reimportation of the two GEDCOMs should solve his problem, but we have no display issues with the one GEDCOM he has sent us for review.

Stephen, I have now deleted both gedcoms from the site and reimported only the file Majken.ged. After that, the problem was still present. Hence, it can hardly have been caused by a mixup between the two gedcoms. I did not expect this to be the case, since the problem was present even before I ever imported the second of the two files. It was because I found the problem in the first file that I imported the second one, as a test to see if it would show up in both files. ( The two files did contain the same persons.) The site is now down and I am underway with installing the trunk version of PGV from the SVN. When I have that up and running I will get back. Regards Ulf.

Stephen, I have now deleted all files from the 4.2.3 version and uploaded all the (many!)  files from the trunk version. I also dropped all old database tables, and then I configured my new installation with the config.php ( The config.php I took from 4.2.3 since there was none in the trunk version). After this I imported the Majken.ged file and voila, the problem was gone. All the pedigree charts were correct!  However, at this point my media folder was empty. So I uploaded my images to the media folder. And then the problem was back!  So this problem is somehow related to my media files!  Regards Ulf

The tarball contains all the files in the current release. One download.
If it is media pointers or files, it has to do with F4. Simply delete the Mxxx objects from both husband and wife and any in the FAM record, and see if the problem is gone.  This would be 1 OBJE @M9@, 1 OBJE @M4@, 1 OBJE @M5@

Stephen, it sems that the problem was related to the pixel matrix size of the images in family F4. The images had pixel matrices of about 2400x3700 pixels. I have now reduced them to less than half of that in each dimension, and now I can have them connected to the persons in famliy F4, and there are no problems with the pedigree chart. Also, another problem was solved by the same fix. Until I reduced the image sizes, I had no images listed in the "Manage Multimedia" function, and no objects listed in the Media List. I was under the impression that this was due to some path or acces-right error that was yet to figure out. But when I reduced the sizes of these two images, these lists all of a sudden showed all my images. Apparently there is a limitation as to the image matrix size that PGV can handle. If the images are to large, both the multimedia lists and the Pedigree chart stops working. Perhaps some kind of check that prevents too large images to be imported could be added? Regards Ulf

NO limit, as you have supposed, but rather you ran out of memory, hence why the pages were not fully rendered and the list handicapped. Posted elsewhere, you'll see that we recommend not using PGV for archival photo purposes, but rather for the convenient display and augmentation of the genealogical data. Use either a program like Galley or Coppersmith to provide a vehicle for reference of larger images.  Gerry and I recommend images no larger than 800-1000 pixels and 256 depth, about less than 200k images. There is little reason for more.
