I have in herited a family database from a relative who sadly passed away. My understanding is that he had put in some idiosyncracies so it was not possible (or at least not easy)to update tot eh latest version of PhpGedView so it is still on 4.0.3 stable
I recently tried deal with some updates which family members had added (I'm the only administrator as far as I can tell, now that my relative has passed). Since the data format of the data is a little idiosyncratic, the person had added it in format which our database considers "wrong" so I copied the raw HedCom data to a text file and tried to undo all the changes he had made so I could enter them "correctly".
The website no longer shows any "pending" changes, so I assume I have removed all the changes he entered (the new husband and child added to his dauhter are not there) but when I try to add more information I get an error like this:
Update successfulERROR 4: Could not find gedcom record with xref:10.7.3.4.3 Line 156 #0 replace_gedrec(10.7.3.4.3, 0 @10.7.3.4.3@ INDI 1 NAME Heidi /Oppenheimer/ 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE 13 JUL 1992 2 PLAC Brooklyn, New York, USA 1 FACT הדייה אשירה בת יהודה הכהן 2 TYPE _HNM 1 REFN 10.7.3.4.3 1 FAMC @F162@ 1 _EMAIL someemail@gmail.com 1 CHAN 2 DATE 13 MAR 2018 3 TIME 14:09:45 2 _PGVU 10.12.1.4 1 FAMS @F857@ ) called at [/home/maxweil/public_html/edit_interface.php:994]
So - to explain what I do understand:
The weird xref is the family code numbering system which my relative invented - amkes sense to no-one but my family.
People in the family tree are referenced by a dotted number
There's a bit in Hebrew, it's just name data in Hebrew
I can see there's a reference possibly to some private bit of code in /home/maxweil/etc/etc - (max weil was my relative) but I don't know how to get to that code to look at it (In theory I might be able to puzzle through the PHP code )
Does anyone have a clue what the best way for me to attack this problem is? There;s a huge (well seems huge to me) amount of family data here, and I don't want to ose it or have to restranscribe everything, but if I can't do updates using the interface or even raw Gedcom records I can't keep it up to date

I doubt that the previous administrator made any program changes.
It should be possible to upgrade PhpGedView to the most recent version and continue to use the existing data without changing anything other than the program itself.
You need to proceed by exporting the database to a GEDCOM file. I suggest that you e-mail me a ZIP copy of that GEDCOM file. I can try to import it into a copy of PhpGedView that's up to date and is NOT on the Internet. That will give us a very good idea of the problems that might be in the database.

DO NOT post that file here, and don't try to e-mail it to me by way of my SourceForge account. That won't work.
