    Hi,
I'm trying to get my places in order and tried installing the GoogleMaps module, but I'm not interested in listing my credit card at Google in order to use it, so I have no API code and I haven't activated the function. How do I get Places to work like before, with the countries' maps and flags?
When I want to add or edit a place the name for my top level is no longer country, but state (län). There is nowhere to register country in split mode. The countries I've already registered are in the state fields, since I have only four levels.

I'm using PGV 4.3.0 (in swedish)

I use the input latitude and longitude to display on the map.
I don't know your situation. The location format should be strictly based on the help text.

Firstly, you should be using the "SVN" version of PhpGedView. Version 4.3.0 has a lot of bugs in it that were fixed in the latest SVN.

    Here's the download link:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/phpgedview/svn/HEAD/tree/trunk/phpGedView/

One of the things that has been updated in this version is the GoogleMaps module. I don't use this, so I can't say how useful it is.

Wikipedia is a good source for geographic coordinates. Another resource is the German Genealogical Society web page:

I don't understand your question about entering place names in Split mode. You can just enter place names in text mode by inserting the correct number of commas to represent the missing fields when there are fewer than 4 fields.

In split mode, the first field listed is always "country". If it's confusing in Swedish, just change to English to see what's what.
