Ver. 2.52b2 - in the Relationship Chart the inner boxes are smaller than the outer boxes - yes, I know they always are ;-) but this time the difference is different from what it use to be ;-)

You notice the funniest things :D. I checked your findings and found the same. This is the way I would like to describe it:
The outer box in 2.52b2 is bigger than in 2.51.3. Besides that there is an inner box which is not present in 2.51.3.
The outer box being bigger is causing it to overlap the type of relationship between to people. I.e. the word father for instance gets covered.
If the box is close to the border of the screen it is very sensitive and changes very rapidly being zoomed and not zoomed. My guess is, it has to do with the cursor no longer being in the correct spot when the box gets bigger. This causing it to go smaller and then it is in the correct spot and goes bigger. Now we are in a loop ;)
