When I open the data entry box for adding a new person there is a time lag of about 6 seconds before any typing I do is accepted. (Before that, the box remains blank). When adding lots of people, this delay amounts to a lot of waiting. It's the standard box - to which I have added the BUR tag. Wondering whether there is any tweak in the software that will help or is it maybe just something to do with my internet connection? I am using PhpGedView 4.2.1, PHP 5.2.8.

Just adding - that the box itself opens immediately so that rules out the internet connection - it's just that it won't accept any typing for 6 seconds.

Sorry to burst a bit of your bubble, but it is both server speed and internet connection speed as the 'box' is still pulling in data from the server. You can speed up the process significantly by disabling 'auto-complete', as it is this function that puts the biggest delay into the actions required to accept input into the form.

Thanks for that Okbigkid. I disabled autocomplete and it made no difference so must be something to do with the connection and/or server speed.
